Hispanic Heritage Month

In September and October, seven Latin American countries celebrate their independence: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile. Hispanic Heritage was first celebrated as a week in 1968 by President Lyndon Johnson and in 1988, President Ronald Reagan expanded it to a 30-day celebration.
