American Family Insurance named a Winning Company for boardroom gender diversity

With about 30-percent of American Family's Board comprised of women, the Madison, Wis.-based insurance company has earned a “W” Winning Company Award from the 2020 Women on Boards, a national organization committed to increasing the percentage of women on corporate boards.

American Family Insurance has been honored for female representation on its board of directors, earning a “W” Winning Company Award from the 2020 Women on Boards, a national organization committed to increasing the percentage of women on corporate boards.

The Winning Company Award is given to companies that have 20 percent or more of their board seats held by women. American Family currently exceeds that benchmark by more than 10 percent, with four women on its 13-member board (nearly 31 percent):

  • Kathleen Barclay, retired senior vice president of human resources of The Kroger Company, Cincinnati, Ohio

  • Christine Cumming, retired first vice president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York

  • Londa Dewey, president of QTI Group, Madison, Wisconsin

  • Leslie Ann Howard, senior advisor to the chief executive officer of United Way Worldwide

2020 Women on Boards, founded in 2010, is a non-profit grassroots campaign committed to increasing the percentage of women who serve on company boards to 20 percent or more by 2020.2020 logo
