Tim Constien named Chief Claims Officer for American Family Insurance Group of companies

Tim Constien has been named Chief Claims Officer for the American Family Insurance Group, a position previously held Chris Conti, who retired in January 2023. Constien’s career spans more than 30 years in the industry and he most recently served as vice president of property claims.

“Claims is at the heart of our organization – helping customers rebuild is what we do,” said Constien. “I’m grateful for the opportunity toTim Constien lead our claims team and combine technology and data with the care and compassion of our people for our customers.”

Constien will continue to build on the company’s innovative digital claims capabilities, which are focused on ensuring customers with claims can choose how and when to interact with the company. Digital interactions make sense for certain customers and claims, while an empathetic, human connection is invaluable for others.

“If customers want to talk, our compassionate claims professionals are there to actively listen. If they want the flexibility of digital claims services, we can seamlessly provide that,” Constien said.

The American Family Insurance Group includes American Family Insurance, CONNECT, Homesite and Main Street America Insurance among other companies. In 2021, Claims operations from these four companies combined to provide cohesive, national claims support to customers across the group. To provide even stronger service to customers, all four companies were integrated onto the same claims technology system, an approach that’s extremely rare among insurers with several national brands.

Under Constien’s leadership, this strong customer focus will continue including innovative approaches to proactive protection, education and mitigation through connected home tools.
