Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation grant portal opens

Summary

Nonprofit organizations can now apply for a grant from the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation, courtesy of the 2018 American Family Insurance Championship proceeds.

With the recent culmination of another successful American Family Insurance Championship, the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation is now accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations that wish to be considered for 2018 tournament proceeds.

All nonprofit organizations located in Wisconsin are eligible with preference given to those with a strong focus on families and children, which serve communities in south-central and southeastern Wisconsin.

“The giving back part is what the American Family Insurance Championship and our foundation is all about,” Steve Stricker said. “Nicki, our family, American Family Insurance and I love to help families and children in need any way we can. To see the smiles and the happiness on their faces is really something special. We’re proud to be a part of this tournament team.” Stricker and Bodhi

“American Family partners with Steve and Nicki Stricker because of our shared commitment to nonprofit organizations and their tireless efforts to meet basic needs and create opportunities for children and families in our community,” said Bill Westrate, American Family Insurance president and member of the foundation’s board of directors. “Together with the PGA TOUR Champions, our tournament sponsors, dedicated volunteers and golf fans, we’re making an even greater difference in the lives of those most vulnerable in our community.”

Charitable grants of any amount can have a significant positive impact on children and families in need. Last year, Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) received a donation from the Foundation. With this donation, DAIS provided 24-hour security coverage to its facility.

“We are grateful for the Foundation’s support,” said Elizabeth Klaus, DAIS donor relations manager. “With their safety and security needs covered, children and families feel safe and at home when they are at DAIS. This is critical for the families staying in our shelter as they work to re-connect and re-establish new routines.”

Last year’s Championship raised over $1.6 million bringing the lifetime charitable total to over $2.7 million. With more than 1,200 volunteers from 13 states, strong sponsorship support and a record-breaking 30,000 one-day attendance record, it’s anticipated the 2018 tournament will exceed last year’s impact.

How to apply

To be considered, apply to the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation grant portal by noon CST on Wednesday, September 5. The foundation board of directors will review the applications in October and November. Grant recipients will be announced on Monday, December 10.
