Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation announces 2021 scholarship winners

Proceeds from the PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship provides $10,000 scholarships to two students

The Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation announced today the recipients of scholarships for two high school seniors: Glenna Sanderson and William Klipstine.

Since 2019, American Family Insurance and the Steve Stricker American Family Foundation have committed to funding scholarships of local high school students.

Each year two deserving local high school seniors who meet certain criteria and live in the Wisconsin counties of Dane or Rock are awarded scholarships to help reach their educational goals. Glenna and William will each receive a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year up to a total of four years).

2021 recipients

Glenna Sanderson is a 2021 graduate of Middleton High School and will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison this fall. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was on the honor roll all four years of high school. Glenna is also currently a sustaining member of The National Charity League, where she spent six years serving in various leadership positions, including president of her class, and completed over 300 hours of volunteer activities. She has also volunteered with Special Olympics, Middleton Outreach Ministry and Bridge Volunteering.

Glenna played golf on the Middleton High School varsity team freshman through senior year, where she said she learned valuable lessons about resilient and perseverance. She played on the 2019 WIAA Girls Golf State Championship team and as team captain in 2021, the team had back-to-back first place finishes in the Alternate Fall State Championship. Glenna plans to share her love of the sport by coaching the Middleton High School golf team in the fall.

William Klipstine is a 2021 graduate of Edgewood High School and will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall and will be studying biomedical engineering. During his time at Edgewood High School, William was a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club, which focuses on volunteerism and leadership.

William was involved in many teams during high school that encompassed both academics and athletics, such as math, volleyball and basketball (where he played all four years). He was also an avid golfer, despite never playing on a formal team. William spends a lot of time playing the sport with friends and family, where he feels he can relax and enjoy himself.
