Lindsey Maier inspires people to dream big at DreamBank
DreamBank in Madison, Wisconsin brings American Family’s brand to life. And Senior Dream Curator Lindsey Maier helps everyone who walks through the door reach for the stars.
Name: Lindsey Maier
Job title: Senior dream curator
How long have you been with the company? Since Sept. 8, 2015
What are your primary work responsibilities? I vet speaker and plan and coordinate our Dream Big events, which focus on inspiration and motivation. I also plan and manage a mini-workshop series called Connection and Intention that takes a hands-on approach to inner work. I’m a certified True Colors international facilitator and lead personality workshops at DreamBank with AmFam teams and other community organizations.
I also represent DreamBank as the primary ambassador for Brava Magazine and its Thrive series. And, I co-lead a book club dedicated to personal development. I currently manage our Make, Craft and Do series, which is hands-on crafting and do-it-yourself projects, but I’ll be transferring that role to another team member soon to make room for new responsibilities including tracking DreamBank metrics, monitoring our budget and processing invoices.
How does your job make a difference for customers? I make connections with people in the Madison community and inspire them to dream big and reach for the stars with confidence.
What is your favorite part of your job? I don’t know if I can pick just one! There are two parts of my job that really fill my cup – managing the Dream Big series and facilitating True Colors workshops. Both allow me to make meaningful connections and learn new things all the time.
How has your job changed during your time at AmFam? How do you work differently? DreamBank has grown since I started. We’ve evolved and added new offerings for guests, including a loyalty program and event series. Moving to the Spark building eight blocks from our previous location, has provided lots of new opportunities!
My role also has changed considerably since I started. I first managed all our private events, and worked with lots of different organizations. Now, I manage two DreamBank series and work more with professional speakers, facilitators, artists and crafters.
What’s something interesting about yourself others might not know? I am a certified storm spotter. When I was growing up I dreamed of being the first meteorologist with a 100 percent forecasting accuracy. In college, I took a weather and climate course and realized I did not care for the physics side of things. Being a spotter allows me to study weather as a hobby, without having to worry about much of the physics. It’s more fun for me this way!
What are you most proud of? Graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I grew up always wanting to be a Badger – just like my sister and aunts.
What quote inspires you? “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” – Aristotle
I use this quote in my True Colors workshops, because I think it is so important to look inside and reflect, to better understand the outside world.
Which book do you think everyone should read? The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I am truly happier after reading this!
What do you do for fun outside the office? I watch lots of tennis and football. I also spend time with my husband, family and friends. I walk half marathons. And, I track storms and learn more about weather across the world.
