Dream Village Tour presented by American Family Insurance makes stop in Madison

Summary

The Dream Village Tour features programming, resources and activities to cultivate the dreams of attendees around the country.

The Dream Village Tour presented by American Family Insurance, recently made a stop in Madison and featured celebrity and influential participants, and community member attendees. The Dream Village bus tour was founded by Eunique Jones-Gibson, “Because of Them We Can” founder and American Family brand ambassador, to inspire local communities to take strides towards restoring and/or pursuing their dreams together.

Programming includes conversations with celebrities, influencers and community members who have significant connections and contributions to their local communities. In addition to a variety of important discussion topics, the tour may also feature a number of different aspects, such as food trucks, local pop-up shops, a giveback and pledge station, a social media affirmation booth, and more. The tour has hosted activations in both Chicago and Atlanta and the Madison event was held on Oct. 6 at the new American Family Spark building.

In addition to Jones-Gibson, special guests in Madison included: Tina Lifford of Oprah Winfrey Network’s “Queen Sugar;” actor AJ Carr of Showtime’s “The Chi;” Gideon Akande, national fitness expert; Mike Ford (see below); Sabrina Madison, Miss Progress; Nancy Hanks, Chief of Schools-Elementary, Madison Metropolitan School District; Judge Everett Mitchell, Dane County Circuit Court; Vanessa McDowell, CEO YWCA; Crystal McCreary, yoga and wellness instructor/influencer; Ranell Washington, director of finance, SocialxMKE.

Building on the success of “Because of Them We Can,” Jones Gibson launched a physical Dream Village location in Washington, D.C., providing visitors with access to affordable co-working space and resources for working professionals and entrepreneurs. The Dream Village Tour serves as a mobile interpretation of this concept, removing the barrier of access to worthwhile resources and dialogue.

To support American Family’s message of Dreaming Fearlessly, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) will spotlight local change-makers through SuperSoul Short Films – OWN’s original docuseries showcasing the power of what can happen when you dream fearlessly. Madison’s fearless dreamer is Mike Ford, founder of The Hip Hop Architect. Fusing his passions of hip-hop music and architecture, Mike Ford hopes to make the field fun and to inspire young people of color to think critically and dream big about their neighborhoods and their communities. He was awarded a $5,000 grant for his work. These videos, among other communications, will run on-air and on Oprah.com as well as OWN’s social platforms.
