American Family recognized for inclusive workplace practices

American Family Insurance has been recognized for its commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, by two national organizations. Specifically, the company is one of the 42 organizations acknowledged by the Seramount Inclusion Index and has achieved a score of 90 out of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI).

Seramount Inclusion Index recognition

Seramount, a professional services and research firm supporting high-performing, inclusive workplaces recently released its sixth annual Inclusion Index. American Family was among the 42 organizations recognized for creating an inclusive workplace, achieving a score of 90 percent. The index evaluates best practices in recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented groups, inclusive company culture, and demographic diversity.

Katie Oertli Mooney, Managing Director of Seramount, highlighted the growth of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) best practices among Inclusion Index companies, stating, “These organizations are consistently measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of their policies, and by doing so, they are taking initiative to build a culture of belonging.”

The 2023 Seramount Inclusion Index showcases advancements in Employee Resource Groups, inclusive recruitment strategies and career and leadership development across participating organizations, all of which are part of American Family’s focus and practices.

Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index recognition

American Family Insurance has also earned a score of 90 out of 100 in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index. This index measures corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. The company joins the ranks of 1,384 major U.S. businesses recognized in the 2023-2024 CEI.

RaShawn Hawkins, Human Rights Campaign Sr. Director of Workplace Equality, emphasized the vital role businesses play in furthering LGBTQ+ equality. “Our goal at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation is to work in a spirit of partnership with companies, providing educational resources and leading benchmarking.”

The 2023-2024 CEI showcases how U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ+ friendly workplace policies in the U.S. and abroad. The index rates employers based on non-discrimination policies, equitable benefits, inclusive culture, and corporate social responsibility.
