American Family pays more than $2 million on claims from July tornadoes in Iowa

After tornadoes whipped through Central Iowa in July, leaving injuries and destruction in their wake, American Family Insurance responded quickly to help customers.

The July 19 storm led to almost 200 claims for American Family Insurance customers. The majority were for homes and vehicles – nearly 20 homes were severely damaged or total losses, but a few dozen commercial properties were also damaged.

American Family has paid a total of more than $2 million to-date to customers in Iowa with damage from the tornadoes.

In addition to the July tornadoes in Iowa, American Family is assisting customers affected by severe weather across the country, including Colorado and Midwest hail storms and wildfires in the Western U.S.
