American Family Insurance teams up again with Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich and Nike to support Milwaukee-area Little League

Summary

Partners will provide financial support for more improvements at Beckum-Stapleton Little League fields and equipment for players.

American Family Insurance and Milwaukee BrewersTM outfielder Christian Yelich announced today they’re partnering to provide an additional investment to support Milwaukee-area youth baseball, including Beckum-Stapleton Little League. Nike donated equipment, including individual player backpacks, identified as the most-needed equipment.

In September 2021 at a news conference at a Beckum-Stapleton field, American Family representatives, Yelich and other partners announced an initial donation to repair dugouts, replace fencing and provide equipment and clothing, in time for the start of this year’s spring season. Yelich was represented at the news conference by his mother Alecia, and brother, Collin. Beckum-Stapleton Little League players and their families were also in attendance.

Today’s announcement includes an additional commitment from American Family and Yelich to furnish new metal bleachers and complete field refurbishments at multiple fields at Carver Park, and the backpacks donation from Nike.

Yelich “I know how much Little League meant to me where I had access to organized baseball, learned the value of teamwork and benefited from the guidance of coaches, and it’s just as important to these kids today,” said Yelich, who is also an American Family Insurance brand ambassador. “By partnering with American Family and Nike, if I can help these organizations doing such great work in the Milwaukee community make this experience even better for youth by providing great places to play ball, I’m honored to do it.”

As part of this partnership, nearly 1,000 Beckum-Stapleton representatives, players and their families were invited as guests of American Family at the Brewers game on Sept. 9, where Little League players were also able to participate in pre-game activities, including batting practice with the Brewers and visits to Bernie’s Chalet.

“American Family and Christian Yelich share a deep commitment to the city of Milwaukee, its communitiesSmith and families,” said Sherina Smith, chief marketing officer for American Family Insurance and Main Street America. “We’re proud to join with Christian and Nike to support the dreams of Milwaukee-area Little Leaguers and we’ll continue to look for opportunities to work with Christian to champion healthy youth in this great city.”

Beckum-Stapleton is a nonprofit, volunteer organization with deep roots on Milwaukee’s North side, providing supervised baseball opportunities for the youth ages 4-16 years old since 1964. Beckum-Stapleton Little League has served more than 25,000 youth since its inception.

Brey and players“Beckum-Stapleton Little League is grateful to American Family Insurance, Christian Yelich and Nike for their generous support of our organization,” said Jim Brey, Beckum-Stapleton Little League president. “These additional much-needed improvements and equipment will help us continue to bring the benefits of youth baseball to families on Milwaukee’s north side.”

The upgrades are expected to begin spring of 2023 and be completed in the summer of 2023. The Nike backpacks were provided to Beckum-Stapleton players in September.
