American Family Insurance recognized as a 5 Star Employer for veterans
Company earns the highest-level award from VETS Indexes Employer Awards
American Family Insurance has been recognized for the second consecutive year as a top employer for veterans by VETS Indexes. This year, the company has earned the designation VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer in the 2023 VETS Indexes Employer Awards. The award recognizes the organization’s commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing, and supporting veterans and the military-connected community.
In 2022, American Family earned a four-star rating from VETS Indexes. By implementing even stronger policies and practices, the company was able to better serve military and veteran employees and earn a five-star rating.
The VETS Indexes tracks the performance of companies that have established themselves as the best employers for veterans. The program analyzes employers’ policies, practices, and outcomes in detail, across the following 5 categories:
- Veteran job candidate recruiting and hiring
- Veteran employee development and retention
- Veteran-inclusive policies and culture
- Support for members of the National Guard and Reserves
- Military spouse/family support
“American Family Insurance stands out from the pack as one of the best employers nationwide for veterans, members of the National Guard and Reserves, and military spouses,” said George Altman, managing director of VETS Indexes, in a statement.
American Family is committed to serving those who serve our country through our inclusive culture, hiring practices, family support and more. American Family also offers a Military and Veteran’s Business Resource Group for employees, one of several employee-led affinity groups that provide networking, education and input on business practices and decisions, particularly regarding diversity and inclusion.
“As more and more employers recognize the cutting-edge technical skills and soft skills veterans bring to the workplace, we want to be recognized as a leader in supporting veterans,” said Cesar Pinzon, American Family Insurance vice president of inclusive excellence. “I’m proud of our ongoing initiatives to support veterans and their families and hope we can inspire other companies wanting to do the same.”
