American Family Insurance presents New Community Shelter check for "Fan Fearlessly" campaign

Charitable organization benefited from fan participation in American Family's "fan fearlessly" campaign with the Green Bay Packers.

American Family Insurance recently sponsored a "Fan Fearlessly" fundraising campaign featuring three NFL teams: Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks. The New Community Shelter was a designated charitable organization from Green Bay that had the opportunity to raise up to $20,000 based on Packer fan participation.

Fans could participate in a number of ways that were tracked throughout the season either on-site or online, such as submitting a “fan dream,” uploading a photo using the #DreamFearlessly hashtag, or filling out a survey on the Fan Fearlessly website. Onsite activities include digital face paint and a green-screen touchdown dance that were recorded and later encouraged to be shared on participants' social media channels.

On Wednesday, May 1, representatives from American Family and the Green Bay Packers visited the New Community Shelter in Green Bay to present ta check for $20,000 from the Fan Fearlessly campaign.

“The New Community Shelter was honored to participate in this promotion with American Family Insurance and the Green Bay Packers and their fans,” said Terri Refsguard, New Community Shelter executive director. “We are especially thankful for American Family Insurance for not only including us in this great promotion, but for coming in and really getting to know how the New Community Shelter makes a difference in our community, and for wanting to partner with us and help our residents in other ways.”

About New Community Shelter
The New Community Shelter was founded in 1994 to help the homeless and the hungry, and has evolved to become one of the most respected shelters in the State of Wisconsin. The New Community Shelter serves the most vulnerable adults in our community; getting them off the street, addressing substance abuse and addiction, and helping them become self-sufficient. The Emergency Shelter Programs provide residents with food, shelter, case management, counseling, vocational/educational assistance, life skills, employment and other classes, access to health care and other supportive services to up to 98 people at a time.

In addition to our Emergency Shelter Program, the New Community Shelter has provided a Transitional Living Program and a Community Meal Program, open to any adults and children in the community that is hungry and in need of food assistance. . They serve dinner 365 days a year and lunch every weekend and on all holidays.
