American Family Insurance, Atlanta Falcon Grady Jarrett team up to support frontline workers

Summary

American Family donates 2,300 meals for Police Officer Appreciation Week.

American Family Insurance, in partnership with Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, are providing ready-made meals to Atlanta-area police and fire stations starting May 11.

American Family is donating 2,300 meals and Grady Jarrett is helping to coordinate and facilitate the effort. Jarrett began his own meal donation program for the month of April and provided nearly 5,000 meals to first responders in Atlanta and his home county of Rockdale.

The American Family meal donations will extend Jarrett’s program in honor of Police Officer Appreciation Week and to continue to give thanks to frontline workers for their dedication to keeping the community safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic

Zaxby’s restaurants are preparing and packaging the meals and providing generous quantities at a discount to increase the number of meals distributed.

Said Grady Jarrett: “I wanted to start this program to give back to my hometown and the city if Atlanta in a time of need. First responders are still being called to duty every day even through our battle with COVID-19. I really appreciate American Family Insurance recognizing our first responders and jumping in on this with me. With their help, we’re able to provide thousands more meals during May and specifically this week.”

The month of May is being observed as Frontline Worker Appreciation Month, and the week of May 10-16 is Police Officer Appreciation Week.

“It may seem like a little thing, but Grady Jarrett and American Family Insurance providing meals to on-duty APD officers during the Covid-19 emergency does wonders for police department morale,” said Dave Wilkinson, Atlanta Police Foundation’s president and CEO. “This generous contribution from Grady and American Family goes a long way to show the solidarity our community has demonstrated to help our first responders during the pandemic.”

American Family Insurance and its group companies, along with the American Family Insurance Dreams Foundation, previously announced it expects to donate more than $6.8 million to support COVID-19 relief.
