American Family, director Michelle Rustler recognized for innovation
American Family Insurance and one of its directors recently received awards for being insurance industry innovators.
American Family and Commercial Farm Ranch Director Michelle Rustler were both honored as innovators in the insurance industry. The awards, Innovation Carrier of the Year and Innovation Leader of the year were given at the Insurance Innovation Awards held Nov. 28 as part of the Connected Insurance USA Summit and presented by Insurance Nexus, a hub for insurance executives that provides industry analysis, targeted research and events.
The awards are designed to celebrate the organizations, individuals and technology partners driving insurance innovation in North America at a time of huge technological disruption.
An open nomination process created a shortlist for each category. A judging panel and a people’s vote then selected a winner, leading to two winners within each category: ‘Judges’ Choice’ and ‘People’s Choice’. The American Family awards were in the ‘Judges’ Choice’ category and the judging panel comprised Stephen Applebaum (managing partner, Insurance Solutions Group), Celia Clinciu (director, InsurTechNews), Matteo Carbone (founder and director, IoT Insurance Observatory) and Insurance Nexus’ Head of Insurance, Emma Sheard.
Other winners included:
Verisk — People’s Choice Innovation Vendor of the Year
American Modern Insurance — People’s Choice Innovation Carrier of the Year
Ilya Bodner, founder, Bold Penguin — People’s Choice Innovation Leader of the Year
“Insurance Nexus hosted the Insurance Innovation Awards to celebrate innovation, exemplary performance and leadership across the American insurance industry,” Jasmine Kees, global events director for Insurance Nexus, said in a statement. “These awards bring together the industry’s leading minds and aim to shine a spotlight on the achievements of those making the biggest, most transformative impacts.”
