Steve Stricker, American Family Insurance Foundation team up to donate $75,000 to Edgerton Community Outreach

Donations will help complete renovation of community center

Madison, Wis. (March 25, 2014) - Edgerton native and professional golfer Steve Stricker, his wife Nicki and the couple’s foundation with American Family Insurance will donate $75,000 to Edgerton Community Outreach (ECO) to help complete renovation of its community center in downtown Edgerton.

The $75,000 gift includes $50,000 from the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation and a $25,000 personal donation from the Strickers.

“We’re so grateful for the generosity of Steve and Nicki and their foundation with American Family Insurance,” said Sarah Williams, Edgerton Community Outreach executive director. “This wonderful gift puts us that much closer to getting the improved facility that will enable us to do more for those in need and get them on the path to independence.”

Edgerton Community Outreach provides programs and services to those in need, including food and housing assistance, with the goal of self-sufficiency. The total budget needed for Phase III of the building renovation project is $750,000. That work includes the full build-out of the upper level (6,000 square feet) into space to better serve ECO’s participants, upgrading electrical systems, elevators and restrooms, and extensive energy efficiency upgrades. A community block grant of $375,000 was awarded for the project, and an additional $225,000 was raised through other fundraising efforts.

To fully fund the entire project, the organization needs to raise an additional $150,000. The $75,000 donation from Steve and Nicki Stricker and the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation will cover half that amount.

“I’m proud to partner with American Family Insurance through our foundation to provide support to organizations that help build strong families and communities,” says Steve Stricker. “It’s particularly gratifying to assist Edgerton Community Outreach, doing such great work right here in my hometown.”

This is the second contribution of the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation, formed in 2013. The first was a $50,000 donation last July to the United Way of Dane County’s Healthy Food for All Children plan.
