Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation accepting grant requests

Building strong families and healthy kids at the center of the Foundation’s mission

Summary

Non-profit organizations can now apply for grants to receive proceeds from the inaugural American Family Insurance Championship. Get the application at www.amfamchampionship.com

After a successful inaugural year for the American Family Insurance Championship, the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation is preparing to direct tournament proceeds back into the community.

Applications will be accepted from all nonprofit entities with preference given to those benefitting communities in South Central and South Eastern Wisconsin, and have a strong focus on making an impact with families and kids. Grant requests for specific programs and services will be considered up to $25,000.

“At its core, that’s what the tournament is about,” said Nate Pokrass, tournament director and executive director of the Foundation, referring to the tournament proceeds that will be donated to local charitable organizations as a result of the event’s success. “These organizations and the community members they serve will be the biggest beneficiaries of the Championship.”

While the official tournament charitable proceeds amount will be announced in December, with more than 150 sponsors and 56,000 golf enthusiasts in attendance during the three-day span, the charitable dollars for the American Family Children’s Hospital and other worthy organizations will be significant.

“To help families and kids in need, to help them achieve their dreams, that’s the number-one objective for this tournament,” said Steve Stricker, PGA TOUR member, tournament host and Madison resident, echoing Pokrass’s sentiment.

To apply for a grant through the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation, download the application from www.amfamchampionship.com and submit by email to StrickerAmFamFoundation@amfam.com. The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 23. Applications will be vetted and reviewed by the Foundation Board in November, and grant recipients will be announced at a formal event to be held in December.

“From the very beginning, the greater-Madison community was fully supportive of our mission and vision for the Championship and now it’s time for us to deliver on its founding principle – positively impacting the community,” said Pokrass. “The event in December will be a culmination of our efforts and a celebration of our first-year accomplishments, while committing to the success of future events.”
