My Amfam offers electronic proof of insurance cards for Apple users

MADISON, Wis. - American Family Insurance now has a native iOS application called My Amfam, providing access to online services and helping our customers manage their insurance needs and services from their smart phones.

My Amfam gives users access to a mobile-optimized version of My Account, which provides policy information and documents, such as insurance cards, and online billing and payment services. In addition, users can view and report claims, and search for repair shops and agents based on their phones’ geographic locations or provided addresses.

The best part is My Amfam provides direct access to electronic proof of insurance (POI) cards. A click of a button sends the cards to Passbook for offline use. For example, a customer pulled over for speeding, only needs fish his phone from his pocket to evidence his auto insurance. No more paper copies in the glove box.

Customers who prefer not to download My Amfam or who use Android smart phones, can also access these online services using the web browser on their phone. Android users can download POI cards into Pass Wallet (available from Google Play store) for offline use. Once cards are stored in Pass Wallet (Android) or Passbook (iOS), users don’t need to login to access them.

American Family is also working on a native version of My Amfam for Android devices.

Customers must be enrolled in MyAccount to have access to electronic POI cards. Eighteen of our 19 operating states, except Nevada, accept electronic POI cards as evidence of insurance.
