“Let’s Talk About It” receives indie book awards
Book captures art, artists and racial justice movement in Madison, Wisconsin
American Family Insurance and the American Family Insurance Institute for Corporate and Social impact are honored to be recognized by the 2021 Next Generation Indie Book Awards for “Let’s Talk About It” a pictorial book created to preserve the art and feature the artists and social justice movement in Madison, Wisconsin, after the killing of George Floyd in 2020. The book captures hundreds of images included in a city-commissioned mural project in downtown Madison and statements from the artists who created the pieces.
In addition to being chosen as the third-place Grand Prize Winner for non-fiction, the book was a first-place winner in the categories BIPOC Book and Current Events Book and a finalist in the categories of Art Book, Social Justice Book, and Best Overall Design. The Next Generation Indie Book Awards is the largest International awards program for indie authors and independent publishers.
American Family led the creation and design and printed and distributed almost 15,000 books free of charge in early 2021, including to individuals, schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations. While there are no longer copies available, please see this PDF version.
