American Family subsidiary connects workers and businesses

Moonrise bridges the gap between paycheck and prosperity

Summary

American Family subsidiary has made a positive impact since it entered the marketplace in January.

Approximately 40 percent of working people can’t afford a $400 emergency. American Family Insurance, through its subsidiary Moonrise, wants to make life easier for these people and their families by offering them ways to earn extra cash.

Chicago-based Moonrise was created by American Family after empathy interviews with customers showed there was a demand for a simple way to connect workers looking for an additional shifts to make ends meet, with companies looking for a reliable hourly workforce. Moonrise does just that. For example, workers are offered and can accept shifts through text messages.

“Our mission is to help Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck and are struggling to make ends meet,” says Moonrise CEO Kara Kaplan. “Our platform offers workers a convenient and fun way to earn extra cash, while providing companies needed access to reliable, hourly workers.”

Moonrise opened its doors in January 2018. Since then:
