Summary

American Family was recently recognized on The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) “Best-of-the-Best” list of corporations in America committed to diversity and inclusion, and on the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) “The Forefront 50” list for supplier diversity.

NMSDC Forefront 50 AwardAmerican Family Insurance was recently recognized for its commitment to supporting diverse suppliers. Specifically, the company was named to The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) “Best-of-the-Best” list of corporations in America committed to diversity and inclusion, and put on the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) “The Forefront 50” list of corporations that are leveling the playing field for minority businesses.

American Family’s comprehensive supplier diversity program includes assistance for business owners with important certifications such as being a minority- or woman-owned business. Such recognition can open the door to greater exposure and opportunities that can support long-term success. American Family’s program also provides mentoring, training and networking for these business owners.

NGLCC Best-of-the-Best listThe NGLCC “Best-of-the-Best” list honors corporations for their commitment to America’s diverse employees and business owners, which includes LGBT people, people of color, women, and people with disabilities. This is American Family’s second year being recognized by the organization as a company committed to diversity, equity and inclusion.

The Forefront 50 exemplifies corporations that create greater economic opportunities for communities of color, end the racial wealth gap and help to achieve the NMSDC’s goal of $1 trillion in annual revenue generation for NMSDC-certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBE).

Anisha Jackson“We are honored to be recognized by the NGLCC and NMSDC for our efforts towards supporting minority-owned businesses with our new program,” said American Family Insurance Supplier Diversity Manager, Anisha Jackson. “To be the only property and casualty insurance company in the NMSDC Top Forefront 50 Corporations program is an amazing accomplishment for our company and reflects our commitment to these businesses. We plan to double our supplier diversity spend goal in 2023 and become a leader in the insurance industry.”

In addition to these awards, in 2022, American Family was also recognized for the seventh consecutive year as a best place to work for LGBTQ equality and received four out of five stars in the VETS Employer Indexes Awards. In addition, CEO Bill Westrate signed the CEO Diversity and Action pledge, reaffirming the company’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
