American Family Insurance dispatches catastrophe team to Central Iowa tornadoes

American Family Insurance is responding to help customers following Thursday afternooon’s tornadoes in Central Iowa. The company has activated its catastrophe claims team for Polk, Marion and Marshall counties, including the communities of Marshalltown, Bondurant and Pella. 

More than 133 American Family Insurance customers have filed tornado claims, including 17 for homes with severe damage. Adjusters are inspecting damaged property as quickly as possible.

The catastrophe team mobile claim office arrived Friday afternoon and is set up at the YMCA, 108 Washington St. in Marshalltown, to provide personal service on site. 

American Family Insurance customers who have claims from the tornadoes should immediately contact the company's 24-hour Customer Care Center, 1-800-MY-AMFAM (692-6326). They can also report claims to their local American Family agent, or online at www.amfam.com/claims.
