After storms strike, American Family helps customers recover

Summary

Severe weather events requiring the American Family catastrophe team have resulted in $81.5 million paid to customers this storm season.

High winds. Hail damage. Leaking roofs. Downed tree limbs. No matter what type of severe weather occurs or the damage that results, American Family is there for its customers.

The American Family catastrophe team has sprung into action more than 20 times this storm season to help customers affected by destructive, major storms. In these situations, which often have a high claim volume, the team is activated to assist local claim employees in setting up appointments with customers to inspect damaged property or vehicles to help ensure claims are paid as quickly as possible.

American Family Agent Rob Hamann of Saint Peters, Missouri, witnessed one of these fierce weather events firsthand. In May, a storm with high winds and three-inch hail swept through St. Louis and surrounding areas. Property and vehicles sustained damage as a result and generated 5,650 customer claims – the largest number American Family has seen so far this storm season.

“It’s when bad weather strikes that our customers need us the most,” said Hamann. “The severe storms that occurred in our area in May showed just why we’re here: to respond to customers, answer questions and help ensure their claims are reported. It’s a job that our office is proud to do.”

From April 1 through July 11, storms requiring the catastrophe team have resulted in more than 20,000 claims reported and $81.5 million paid to American Family customers.

“Our mission is to make sure our customers’ dreams are protected, and being there for them day or night during difficult times is one of the best ways to accomplish that,” said Hamann.
