3rd Street Market Hall and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee team up with local athletes to support community

Summary

Milwaukee Brewer and American Family Insurance brand ambassador Christian Yelich, Ryan Braun and Keston Hiura and Milwaukee Bucks’ Pat Connaughton provide meals and sports equipment with donations from American Family Insurance, Good Karma Brands and JP Cullen.

3rd St. Market Hall and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (BGCGM) will host an event at six of BGCGM’s Clubs on Friday, June 26, 2020, to provide take-home meals to Club families. The food will be prepared by Saz’s Hospitality Group, which is opening a new concept in the upcoming 3rd St. Market Hall. Registered BGCGM members at the event will also be given sports equipment for outdoor activities.

"We are deeply grateful for our partnership with Omar Shaikh and 3rd Street Market Hall at the Avenue," said Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee's President and CEO, Kathy Thornton-Bias. "Right now our youth and our communities are grappling with both a pandemic and an arduous fight for inclusion and justice. This event is an opportunity for our families to take a few moments to enjoy themselves while allowing others to show they care for them.”

The 1,500 meals and sports equipment including basketballs, baseballs and baseball gloves, are made possible with donations from American Family Insurance, Good Karma Brands and JP Cullen.

American Family and its group companies, along with the American Family Insurance Dreams Foundation, previously announced it expects to donate more than $6.8 million to support COVID-19 relief. This is part of those efforts.

Milwaukee Brewers’ Christian Yelich, Ryan Braun and Keston Hiura alongside Milwaukee Bucks’ Pat Connaughton have joined together to share a message of support for the kids and the Milwaukee community. “We are proud to partner with 3rd Street Market Hall and other local sponsors to support Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. To the kids of Boys & Girls Clubs, congratulations on finishing off the school year strong! We want you to know we're here for you and the entire community. We know this has been tough, but we want you to know we’re in this together, so let's keep doing whatever it takes to get through this healthy and happy,” said Braun, Connaughton, Hiura and Yelich in a joint statement.
