Volunteers with Fred Couples

Volunteer registration for the third annual PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship is open and the public is invited to sign-up to participate. Those interested can learn about the numerous volunteer opportunities and sign-up at the volunteer page of AmFamChampionship.com.

The tournament and accompanying events will take place June 18 – 24, 2018 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin. Steve Stricker, 12-time PGA Tour winner and 2017 Presidents Cup captain will once again be a player/host for the 2018 event.

All proceeds from the championship will be donated to the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation. A portion of those proceeds will be earmarked for the American Family Children’s Hospital, with the remainder donated to other state-wide charities determined after the championship. Recipients of the proceeds from this year’s inaugural championship will be announced on Dec. 11. Last year’s proceeds reached nearly $1.1 million that was distributed to the hospital and 33 other local charitable organizations. The 2017 proceeds are expected to surpass that total.

“Volunteers are the backbone of the American Family Insurance Championship and we appreciate the enthusiastic response we’ve received the past two years,” said Nate Pokrass, tournament director. He encourages interested volunteers to sign up right away for the 2018 event. “We’ll have hundreds of volunteer opportunities for the 2018 championship and due to the popularity of our tournament, we expect those to fill up quickly,” Pokrass said.

Volunteers pay a $75 registration fee, with proceeds donated to the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation. Included with the registration fee, all volunteers will receive a tournament shirt, hat, jacket, commemorative pin, meals during the shift and a guest ticket.

About the American Family Insurance Championship
The PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship began in June 2016, hosted by 12-time PGA TOUR winner and Wisconsin native Steve Stricker. In addition to hosting, Steve Stricker played in the event in 2017, which was held June 23-25 at University Ridge Golf Course. The tournament features a 78-player field competing for a $2 million purse. The no-cut event includes two Pro-Am events, followed by three days of tournament play. The third annual championship is scheduled for June 18-24, 2018. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation and the American Family Children's Hospital. Nearly $1.1 million in proceeds was donated to charitable organizations from the 2016 event. The recipients of the 2017 event proceeds will be announced in December.
