American Family moves up in Fortune 500 rankings

American Family has moved to 315 on the Fortune 500 list, up 17 spots from No. 332. This continues our steady rise up the rankings in recent years, having moved up 78 spots from 393 in 2013.

Fortune bases its rankings on total revenues, including earned premium, investment income, net capital realized gains and other income.  

“The improvement in the 2016 ranking was driven by exceptional growth in new business production, policies in force, and net premium written on a year-over-year basis,” says Dan Kelly, chief financial officer and treasurer.

In total, Fortune 500 companies represent two-thirds of the U.S. GDP with $12 trillion in revenues, $890 billion in profits, $19 trillion in market value, and employ 28.2 million people worldwide.
