American Family Insurance One Saturday to Dream Fearlessly event held in Portland, Oregon
American Famly Insurance partnered with entreprenuer Kathy Ireland, Amazon, ChickTech, agents/employees and local mother or guardian/daughter participants for a One Saturday to Dream Fearlessly event on Saturday, Nov. 11. The event featured technology activities designed to encourage careers in science and technology.
Entrepreneur and American Family brand ambassador Kathy Ireland, representatives from Amazon and ChickTech, 75-100 mother or guardian/daughter pairs, Portland-area American Family agents and employees participated in a One Saturday to Dream Fearlessly event Saturday, Nov. 11 at Pure Space in Portland, Oregon.
Mother-Guardian/daughter pairs engaged in hands-on technology activities to inspire, build confidence and enhance technical skills. The programing allowed these pairs to bond across generations while encouraging and supporting the pursuit of STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) careers.
AmFam partneed with entrepreneur and brand ambassador Kathy Ireland, who led one of the activities, as well as Amazon and ChickTech, a national organization that facilitates technology-centric events and programs for women and girls.
Throughout the afternoon, participants took part in several activities, including: Build an Alexa Skill with guidance from Amazon; Create Your Vision, a canvas to visualize dreams and goals; Soft Circuit Kits, building bracelets with ChickTech’s soft circuit kits that showed participants they can create an actual piece of technology; and Video Game Design, learning basic programming and problem-solving skills in a fun way through building a simple video game.
Hosted by American Family Insurance, the One Saturday to DreamFearlessly events are ongoing celebrations to encourage participants to create a positive change in their communities, while inspiring dreams, and bring together community volunteers, American Family agents, brand ambassadors and employees.
