American Family Insurance announces three-year contract extension with brand ambassador Steve Stricker

Summary

12-time PGA tour winner and Presidents Cup captain renews contract through 2020.

Steve Stricker, PGA tour winner and captain of the U.S. Team for the 2017 Presidents Cup, has signed a three-year extension as brand ambassador for American Family Insurance, the company announced today. Stricker signed on as American Family’s first brand ambassador in 2013.

“The respect and admiration Steve receives from his peers, fans and public is a testimony to the kind of person he is,” said Jack Salzwedel, chairman and CEO of American Family Insurance. “His integrity, humility and passion to give back to others align perfectly with our values at American Family. We couldn't be more proud to have Steve as a brand ambassador for our company as he inspires us all to dream big.”

Adds Salzwedel, “I’m so pleased that our new contract with Steve also means our partnership is expanding. This enables us to position our brand in exciting new ways, including having the AmFam logo on Steve’s golf bag and hat, in addition to his apparel.” These new elements will debut when Stricker plays in the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Jan. 29 – Feb. 4.

An Edgerton, Wisconsin, native and Madison resident, Stricker is a 12-time PGA Tour winner and twice earned the PGA TOUR Comeback Player of the Year, in 2006 and 2007. In 2012, he received the tour’s Payne Stewart Award, presented annually to a professional golfer who best exemplifies the values of character, charity and sportsmanship.

Stricker also partners with American Family as the host/player of the PGA TOUR Champions American Family Insurance Championship, which began in 2016. Together they created the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation in 2013 to support efforts for healthy families and children. Charitable proceeds from the American Family Insurance Championship in just its first two years have exceeded $2.7 million.

“I’m honored to be on the American Family Insurance team,” Stricker said. “They have been such an amazing partner, from starting the foundation together, to the success of the American Family Insurance Championship after only two years, I value the relationship we have and what we’ve been able to accomplish. I look forward to working together in the coming years and couldn’t be happier to extend our relationship.”
