American Family group prepared for Florence
Claims teams from the American Family Insurance group are in place to help customers who sustain damage from Hurricane Florence.
Claims teams from the American Family Insurance group of companies, including American Family Insurance, Homesite and The General, are in place to help customers who sustain damage from Hurricane Florence.
“We have people and resources ready to respond when our customers need us,” said Alan Collison, American Family Insurance director of catastrophe operations. 
According to the National Hurricane Center, Florence is expected to make landfall later today or early Friday, centering on the North and South Carolina coast. States in the direct path include North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.
American Family Insurance sells multi-line insurance in Georgia, primarily through its agents, and in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia through its online sub-brand American Family Insurance | connect.
Homesite has homeowners, renters, condo and commercial insurance customers in the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia, while The General has auto insurance customers in those states. 
Homesite and the other companies are already contacting customers through various channels to inform them of claim-reporting numbers and processes, which would include deploying additional adjusters.
“Be safe first, and worry about your claim later,” said John Hollar, president and chief operating officer for The General, in urging residents to take necessary precautions.
